Scalzo Realty Company was started in the year 1907 by Mr. Pasquale Scalzo, also known as (Patsy) Scalzo, my grandfather. In the early years, the business consisted of selling real estate, construction, home renovations, and selling coal. The insurance end of the business was being handled by family members, Margaret and Josephine Scalzo, and soon after was taken over by Broker Barbara Ann Scalzo (Ed’s Daughter) In 1940, (Patsy’s) son, Mr. Ed Scalzo (my father), joined the firm.
For over 30 years, Ed Scalzo ran things until 1977 when I, Mr. Richard W. Scalzo, joined the firm and for over 30 years, like my father, I have carried the Scalzo name with honor to it’s 100th year anniversary! Looking back to yesteryear, our successful business has called many places home. Our first location was a warehouse/real estate office on 64th street and 14th avenue. Soon after our location was moved to the triangular property located at 68th street and New Utrecht avenue. From there we relocated to the corner of 18th avenue and 64th street. Then from 1941 to 1991, it was 18th avenue and 62nd street. We spent a total of 70 years on 18th avenue at various locations.
In 1995, we moved to 13th avenue. February 1, 2007, we moved our new state of the art fully computerized office to: 7315 – 13th avenue for our 100th year anniversary. I, Richard W. Scalzo, am proud to have had the honor of receiving, along with my father, Ed Scalzo, from NY State Senator Marty Golden, a Legislative Proclamation Award celebrating our 100 years of outstanding business services. Adopted as NYS Senate Resolution # 116 Dated January 17, 2007
